Portsmouth is an attractive, multi cultural city on the south coast of England, approximately 65 miles south west of London. The city enjoys an unrivalled status as one of Britain's major ports and is steeped in maritime history, offering a plethora of naval museums and other places of interest, such as H.M.S. Victory, The Mary Rose and H.M.S. Warrior.

Portsmouth provides all the conveniences of the modern city, yet it remains the perfect base from which to explore Hampshire. The nearby New Forest covers 145 square miles of open heath and woodland and can be reached in about 45 minutes. Both Winchester, the ancient capital of England and the historic town of Salisbury can be visited within a short journey time from Portsmouth.

The nightlife throughout the city is lively and diverse, catering to (almost!) all conceivable tastes. The Southsea area in particular provides an excellent programme of entertainment with a funfair, beaches and places of general interest to all the family, such as the Sealife Centre, D-Day Museum and Flower Gardens. Naturally, being a coastal city, there is also a comprehensive range of water sports available to the more active amongst you. Portsmouth itself boasts 2 main theatres, a multi screen cinema complex and more pubs, clubs and restaurants than you could shake a stick at.

Communications are excellent. Portsmouth has awarded itself the title The Flagship City in respect of its status as one of our major ports, not only for naval vessels but for passenger and freight shipping too. The city also has excellent air, road and rail services:
