Living in Rustington

Rustington is a growing town in West Sussex situated just south of the Downs on the coast. Even though it was recently given the ‘town’ status, it still retains a welcoming village atmosphere.

Entertainment

There is the excellent Windmill theatre/cinema complex on the seafront at neighbouring Littlehampton, adjacent to that is Smarts Amusements that attracts visitors on a seasonal basis. The area also boasts a good selection of restaurants, family pubs and country inns.

Rustington town centre has an abundance of shops including Woolworths, Iceland, Somerfield alongside numerous boutiques, cafes, gift and furniture shops. On the outskirts of town is a large Sainsbury’s, Halfords, Pets at Home and Focus DIY store.

Sports

To the north of Rustington there is a 9 hole golf club attached to an ‘Esporta’ private gym. There is a private tennis club at Angmering on Sea along with a dinghy club. Littlehampton has a sports centre on the seafront with 25 metre swimming pool, gym, squash courts and sports hall. Also there are several bowls clubs at East Preston, Littlehampton and Arundel.

Communications

The main line rail line follows the coastal path, stopping at Angmering and Littlehampton stations. To reach Gatwick and London, the trains go via Hove in a journey taking some 75 minutes.

There are frequent buses travelling within the town, to local villages and to the larger towns of Worthing and Chichester. The historic and picturesque town of Arundel is only 15 minutes away with commuter line with links to London and the South Coast. Arundel boasts not only beautiful riverside apartments but also the historical Arundel Castle and Cathedral.

Schooling

There are many local private nursery facilities for working parents. There is a good choice of primary and senior schools with sixth forms. Northbrook College offers degree and diploma courses together with a wide range of night-school classes.

Hospital

In the nearby town of Worthing there is The Worthing and Southlands Hospital, which is new and has teamed up with Southlands Hospital to provide an excellent service and facilities, including an accident and emergency department. There is also a small cottage hospital at Littlehampton.
