Living in Haywards Heath

An insiders guide to Mid Sussex

Haywards Heath is known as the heart of Mid Sussex and has always been immensely popular with commuters to London, Gatwick Airport and Brighton. The town boasts 48 listed buildings dating back to the 16th Century. Haywards Heath train station was originally built to service the villages of Lindfield and Cuckfield as the local councils would not provide a station each. The area grew and now Haywards Heath is a substantial sized town. The Leaders Haywards Heath Office is situated on the hustle and bustle of The Broadway where many popular restaurants, bars and cafes are located. Along with commuters, Mid Sussex also attracts many families in their droves due to the reputations of the local schools.

Entertainment

Haywards Heath is surrounded by the beautiful Sussex countryside and many National Trust Gardens including Borde Hill, Nymans and the Ardingly Reservoir. You can also take a tour of local vineyards and maybe sample some of their produce! During the year the usually quiet village of Ardingly turns to a lively place due to the well publicized and poplar South of England Show - not to be missed. Claire Hall located close to Haywards Heath train station also presents a varied selection of plays and events on a regular basis. There are also a wealth of family attractions and facilities in this thriving town including the Bluebell Railway Line, Beach Hurst Gardens with its miniature railway and Victoria Park with its regular outdoor concerts: Katherine Jenkins is a regular attraction. During many of the Bank Holidays through out the year The Broadway becomes host to open air concerts and festivals becoming a pedestrian only area and a street party to be experienced.

Haywards Heath offers a wide selection of Resturants catering to all tastes and budgets: from fine dinning at Jeremys Restaurant in Borde Hill Gardens to Italian alfresco dinning at Prezzo or Zizzi. There really is something for whatever your taste buds fancy!

Sports

There are many local groups and clubs in the area from Golf and Cricket to Rugby and Football. The Dolphin Leisure Centre is also a pull for those wishing to get active with is Swimming pool, Gym, Squash and Badminton Courts.

Shopping

Haywards Heath has a thriving high street and is also home to The Orchard Shopping Centre. Whether you prefer independent local shops to the usual high street chains, you will find it all in Haywards Heath.

Transport

Haywards Heaths location means that it is perfect for travelling around the South East. London Victoria is a short 45 minute train journey away whereas Gatwick Airport and Brighton are both a mere 15 - 20 minute train ride away. Haywards Heath also boasts a frequent bus schedule around the local area. If you are travelling by car, access to the A23 is only a short drive away and you can access the M25 in no time at all

Over the years Haywards Heath has been spoilt with so many popular developments in a range of styles. The ever popular Bolnore Village development attracts young families and professional alike due to the modern feel and contemporary style of the variety of apartments and houses scattered within.
