What's It Like To Live in High Wycombe?

High Wycombe is set among the Nestled in the heart of the Thames Valley, amidst the renowned natural beauty of the Chiltern Hills, High Wycombe (Wy from the river Wye and Combe meaning Wooded Valley) is the largest town in Buckinghamshire, famously known for its furniture manufacturing especially chairs over the last century. More recently, this ever changing and expanding town has benefited from a brand new Shopping centre and multiplex cinema leisure complex and a complete over haul of Bucks University. With 20 minute fast trains into London Marylebone and situated on the M40 and a couple of miles from the M25 High Wycombe is an ideal commuter hotspot. Boosting some of the countries best Schools such as the infamous Royal Grammar.

Entertainment

High Wycombe is buzzing with all sorts to occupy all tastes. The Swan theatre hosts West End productions comedies, drama, music and the beloved annual Pantomime. Two Multiplex cinemas, bowling and an array of nightclubs, wine bars and pubs. The Wycombe Arts Centre hosts up and coming bands along with the Student Union. If all that sounds too noisy the abundance of natural beauty, countryside and glorious walks in the Chiltern Hills, Hughendon Manor or the picturesque surrounding villages of Beaconsfield, Amersham, Marlow and Henley on Thames to name but a few, may be more your cup of tea.

Sports

The Wycombe Wanderers Football team reside at Adams Park just on the edge of town. They have recently been promoted to League 1 much to the delight of the supporters otherwise knows as 'chairboys.' Sharing the ground are the London Wasps Rugby Team. High Wycombe rugby club is situated to the East of town in Loudwater close to the popular Rye Park inclusive of outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts and football pitches as well as the picturesque boating lake and 2 children's play areas. At least 4 gyms and sports centres are dotted around High Wycombe including a huge variety of independent clubs and activities for all tastes and ages.

Shopping

The Eden Shopping Centre, now approaching its 4th year is a mecca for the shopaholic, boasting House of Fraser, Marks and Spencer and 105 of the usual retail suspects you would expect or wish for. The complex also holds a 12-screen Cineworld multiplex cinema and an array of restaurants including Zizzi and Waggamamas and if all that &#39s not worn you out, 22 lanes at AMF Bowling might. Numerous retails parks and supermarkets are also situated around the Town for all your DIY and domestic needs.

Communications

High Wycombe Train station is located in the centre of town with direct fast routes to London Marylebone (20 minutes) and an hour to Birmingham in the other direction. With 2 junctions for the M40 minutes from the town centre and M25 and M4 within a few miles High Wycombe is an ideal base for commuting. Buses can take you in all directions including direct to Heathrow Airport.
