Homeowners and landlords are currently able to benefit from a property market that has recorded an extremely strong start to the new year.
Property specialist Leaders has revealed a 67 per cent increase in the number of properties it has been instructed to sell in January compared with the monthly average in the fourth quarter of 2016. It has also noted a 16.5 per cent surge in the amount of applicants registering with a view to renting a home.
Allison Thompson, managing director at Leaders, says: “It’s certainly been a hectic start to 2017 as many people look to act upon one of the most popular new year’s resolutions: to make a fresh start in a new home.
“There has been a significant rise in the number of properties we have brought to the sales market in January, which is great news for the market as an increase in supply often gives even more people the confidence to put their home on the market and get moving.
“Meanwhile, an already busy lettings market has continued to grow with the emergence of new tenants on a daily basis.
“There is now a golden opportunity available to sellers and landlords, with high demand and rising house prices and rents combining to create ideal conditions for those who wish to get a great price for their property.”
With a strong start to the year assured, Leaders believes the local sales and lettings markets will continue to grow throughout 2017. Steady price rises and record-breaking demand are expected to define the industry this year.
