A charity quiz night will be held next month – at the start of Children’s Hospice Week - in an effort to raise much-needed funds for local children’s hospice Rainbows and national charity Together for Short Lives.
Property specialist Leaders is organising a special evening of trivia at the Dog & Duck pub on Main Road, Old Clipstone at 7pm on Monday 23rd May. All proceeds will be donated to Together for Short Lives, a charity that supports all 53 children’s hospices in the UK including Rainbows in Loughborough.
Anthony Slater, branch manager at Leaders in Mansfield, says: “We look forward to hosting a fun-packed night in Mansfield and putting everybody’s general knowledge to the test.
“We have plenty of entertainment lined up, as well as a fantastic quiz and delicious food for people to enjoy. Most importantly, we hope to raise as much money as possible for a very worthy cause.
“Together for Short Lives supports children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions and all those who love and care for them - including those at our nearest hospice, Rainbows. All of us in the branch have taken the hospice to heart and will be fundraising and volunteering on its behalf this year.”
The team from Leaders’ Mansfield branch will be serving chip butties on the night, as well as holding a tombola and a raffle with a top prize of £50 cash.
People can take part in the quiz as teams or individually – it will cost £3 per quiz sheet.
Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People has been providing care and support to children and their families since 1994 and is the East Midlands’ only children’s hospice.
Kate Golding, Head of Organisational Giving at Rainbows said: “We would like to thank Leaders and the Dog & Duck for organising this event along with everyone who will be taking part. Not only is it a great way of raising funds, hopefully everyone will have a fun night. At Rainbows, we care for 358 children and young people with life-limiting or terminal illnesses. We also support 334 bereaved families and 665 siblings, including those from Mansfield and Nottinghamshire. Without the support of our fundraisers, we simply wouldn’t be able to open our doors to the families who need us the most.”
Leaders raised £45,000 for Together for Short Lives last year and once again named it as its Charity of the Year for 2016. The estate and letting agents is aiming to raise £50,000 for the charity this year.
