The UK’s happiest place to live revealed…

Wed 11 Oct 2017

The happiest place to live in the UK has been named as the Warwickshire town of Leamington Spa.

New research by Rightmove found the historic Midlands town scored highest after a number of factors were taken into consideration, including local services, the friendliness of neighbours, access to green spaces and a sense of belonging.

Jas Bagri, sales manager at property specialist Leaders’ branch in Leamington Spa, says: “Some 12 issues were studied before coming to the conclusion that living in Leamington Spa is the happiest option available to Brits.

“The comprehensive nature of the research underlines what those of us working in the local property market have known for some time: that the town offers plenty to all types of people and is incredibly popular for a variety of reasons, from its numerous parks to the quality of schools and the laid-back and friendly approach of locals.

“House prices in Leamington Spa have risen by almost £20,000 in the last year alone, pushed up by high demand from buyers looking for a fantastic home in the country’s happiest town. This makes it an extremely good time to sell, as you can feel confident of attracting plenty of interest and ultimately getting the best price for your property.”

Rightmove’s Happy at Home Index 2017 named Leigh-On-Sea, the Wirral, Harrogate and Royal Tunbridge Weels as the other locations to make the top five. They were followed by King’s Lynn, Epsom, Richmond upon Thames, Poole and Chichester.

Jas adds: “All these towns are similar to Leamington Spa in offering a happy and relaxed way of living. They are defined by good pubs and restaurants, excellent schools and doctors, strong community spirit and a feeling among residents that you are free to be yourself.”
