A team of five hardy estate agents proved they were up to the challenge by taking part in a heart-racing abseil in support of their Charity of the Year.

Staff from Leaders Estate Agents in Worthing and Littlehampton abseiled down the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth on Saturday, 29th August, raising more than £2,000 in sponsorship for Together for Short Lives, the UK’s leading charity for children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions.

Sally Stewart, branch manager at Leaders in Littlehampton, says: “We are delighted to be doing our bit for Together for Short Lives this year, which does so much valuable work to support seriously ill children in the UK and all those who love and care for them. The money we have raised will go towards our local children’s hospice, Chestnut Tree House.

“We’ve organised a number of fundraisers in the past but wanted to do something a bit different this time. Abseiling from such a tremendous height was a big challenge for us all so we are thrilled to have raised so much money. Thank you to everyone who sponsored us.”

Sarah Arnold, corporate fundraising manager at Chestnut Tree House, said: “Well done to the team on their amazing challenge and fundraising efforts. We are very grateful for their support. As the only children's hospice in Sussex, we care for 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-shortening conditions.

“It costs over £3m each year to provide all our care services free of charge to families, but with less than 7p in every pound funded by the government, we rely heavily on donations. It is only with the generosity, help and support of the people of Sussex, including businesses such as Leaders, that we can continue to develop our much-needed services in the face of such a challenging financial climate.”

Through its partnership with Together for Short Lives, each of Leaders’ 100-plus branches across the country has been partnered with the nearest children’s hospice to enable staff to make a difference in their local community.
